So far the line up for the party consists of opening sets by Jon Gill, Steve Bloodbath and F.P.W.L artist and label mate, Cozmic Cat in a special appearance coming down from Toronto. It is to be held at a new location in center city on APRIL 21st called THE RAVEN LOUNGE. This multi-floor venue will host two new changes for FREAK. One, there will we two rooms of music, including an all vinyl retro room where everything from classic industrial and new wave to old school rave and post punk will be played. Two, the night will have no cover charge all evening. Flyers, posters and other guerilla style promotions start this week. 03/31/06 Jon Gill begins new residency at Philadelphia's latest contribution to after hours night life, PULSE. The multi-level club boasts hard wood floors, a bar that changes colors, great sound and lights, bottle service area and a great mezzanine bar that overlooks the whole club. The music so far has been deep to electro house and in the coming weeks, Pulse will have it's grand opening week where they already have more than a 1000 r.s.v.p.'s each night. Hold on! Inside H.O.B. the main club is called Worship. Three floors of incredible design and a super mad sound system that will rock Nails fans right into a frenzy. This time bringing in a live electrohouse performance by Silver Recordings (UK) artists' BCML. This Philadelphia based duo gained international recognition with their project 'SPEEDCATS' which spawned an underground hit with the same name. This electro track is currently in the record crates of some of the worlds top djs including DJ HELL, LAURENT GARNIER, SASHA, NICK WARREN and more. for more details on this party, click the 'FREAK' tab on the top of the page. 12/31/05 Lorne and Jon Gill take on New Years Eve, 2005. Lorne, at the uber mod Hudson Hotel in NYC with host Carson Daily of MTV fame and Jon at restaurantur legend, Steven Starr's El Vez in Philadelphia. Lorne reports a beautiful set up in the outside courtyard of the Hudson (with plenty of heatlamps) including giant plasma screens with a view of Time Square, projected visuals, lots of dancing and merryment. Jon reports of crazy party-people doing shots of tequila with their champagne at midnight as El Vez is Philadelphia's premier upscale rock 'n' roll Mexican eatery. With present filled pinatas dangling from the ceiling, people pushing tables out of the way to dance and a $5 Margarita special to ring in the new year, Jon had his hands full with his vibacious crowd. See pict here. 11/20/05 Jon Gill and Wally C. finish their second remix project. This time for the Hollywood based band, Zeitmahl. Front man for the band, Shok, a native to the Philadelphia region, moved out to the West Coast several years ago and since then has worked with an impressive collective of underground talent including Love & Rockets, Thrill Kill Kult and most recently Mount Sims. Zeitmahl plans to release a full length in the coming months with their first single "Don't Be Afraid" leading the pack. 09/20/05 From Philly With Love djs Lorne and Jon Gill take residencies at the House Of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ. Fridays feature Lorne, playing the main arena called Club Worship and Sundays, join Jon in the Foundation Room, the private lounge of the world renowned venue. Click here. 09/01/05 Jon Gill and his FREAK collective start a series of parties with Philadelphia based promo team, Paperstreet. In the coming months Jon Gill, Deadboy and Wally C. will be playing along side superstar electrohouse djs Tommie Sunshine (NYC), Felix Da Housecat (Chicago) and others TBA. The parties will be called 'PLEASURE TOWN' and are to be held monthly starting in September at Transit (600 Spring Garden St.) More details to follow. The Philadelphia based dj/producer has been fulfilling studio commitments by working on a solo project and compiling songs for a full length release due out some time in mid November. By night he resides as resident dj for NYC's swank uber-fashionable hotel, The Hudson. 08/23/05 - FREAK AND LOW LIFE BACK2BACK Jon Gill embarks on a huge weekend and an end of summer electro bash. A double party has been scheduled for the weekend of August 26th. First, Friday the 26th at Fluid for his monthly FREAK event-this time with guest dj Ian Fford of NYC's Downtime Night Club. Ian held a residency here in Philadelphia a few years back at legendary Bank at 6th and Spring Garden (Where Transit Nightclub now stands). His reputation for spinning 80's and New Wave earned him the admiration of Philly's underground and Jon looks forward to having him do an exclusive 2 hour set at this next Freak party. Then, on Saturday, the 27th Low Life at Transit with a laundry list of talent including Wang Newton's 'License To Kill Lounge', Dj Spiggy of the infamous Sleaze parties in DC, Discobotz djs Imri and Kylobyte with their brand of electro breaks, Bond Girl fashions by Zeit Und Raum designers and of course FREAK djs Wally C, Deadboy and Jon Gill. Three floors and basically three styles of party music including live lounge crooning, 80's new wave, electroclash, technowave and breaks. Look for updates on the FREAK site as they come in or visit www.canyourelate.net for more details. 07/16/05 Jon Gill and his fellow djs from Freak, their electrowave monthly at Fluid, join two other leading Philadelphia based parties in creating one large event entitled 'Low Life' With eight djs including Robert Drake and Pussy Galore (Sex Dwarf, Fluid) Kat Fadigan (Nocturne, Shampoo) Dr. Octo-Pussy and 'Mighty' Mike Saga (Vesago, Emerald City) and fellow Freak djs Wally C. and Deadboy, the three floors of Transit Night Club were filled with the sounds of New Wave, Electroclash and Technowave. Also involved were fashion designers Zeit Und Raum providing sexy models and future fun outfits, along with freaked out visuals by Terreyl. With more than 400 people in attendance, Party planners Gill, Drake and Colgen are preparing for even greater numbers come this fall with a tentative second Low Life in the works. More details to follow. 4/1/04 From Philly With Love is picked to be in Urb Magazine's "Next 100" Issue. ![]() From Philly With Love is happy to be enlisted as one of 'the most interesting artists on the rise', for Urb Magazine's 10th Annual 'Next 100' Issue. For those who don't know, Urb Magazine is a California based publication specializing on and reporting about the various forms of urban appreciated music worldwide. All forms of today's cutting music are topics in this more than ten-year veteran magazine including hip-hop, house, techno, and beyond. Here's a link. Their famed "Next 100" issue accounts of those artists that Urb feels have potential to break out and make it big in their respective musical genres. This issue is released only once a year and those selected can only be on the list once. We thank them whole-heartedly and aim to live up to the challenge of being a "Next 100" artist. Thanks! 11/07/03 Cozmic Cat moves to Toronto: The rumors (which started months and months ago) finally came true. Cozmic Cat, From Philly With Love founder and tri-state area main stay dj has moved up north to Toronto. Coz, born into Canadian citizenship moved to Philadelphia in 1997 where she quickly won over the liberty city's club goers and scene heads with here turntable skills and friendly, playful nature. She claims she will continue to work with the newly formed FPWL affiliation and hopes to use her international move as a way to tie in, among others, Canadian contacts to aid the FPWL cause. We wish her the best of luck and thank her for all she's done for Philadelphia. We're jealous, Canada! 10/27/03 From Philly With Love Volume 2 Record Release Party: Held at The 5 Spot, which, now receives international notoriety for it's legendary Black Lilly parties, the trio graced the decks once again and delivered. Jon Gill started out the night with deep, turning to classic, and then techy grooves followed closely by a fun and vivacious set of breaks and funky house by Cozmic Cat. About half way through the evening, Spenser Michaels accompanied by Zen One dancers performed Coz's track 'Sunshine' live.(add photo link to Spenser's name)The party goers, which included some of Philly's finest industry heads including Hollis P. Monroe, Josh Wink, and Deep C., were then treated to the rest of the tracks on the new record followed by an inspiring and wonderfully eclectic set by Lorne. In addition, the party was filmed by Amadee Braxton to be part of a documentary due out next year. Copies of Volume 2 on Cd were made available to the masses along with other goodies including stickers and free eats. Plus, visuals were graciously provided by Media Bureau. 'A classic party' as described days later with much gratitude by patrons. Look for more FPWL events as they come and if your in the area, don't hesitate to attend and feel the love. 8/15/03 Lorne, Coz and Jon do it again by releasing "From Philly With Love: Volume Two". This super extended EP will feature two new tracks from Cozmic Cat including "Sunshine", the debut collaboration between Coz and Philly's favorite soul vocalist, Spenser Michaels. Lorne fans won't be disappointed in the least as our favorite British export will also feature two brand new tracks on this release. One of which, "Magic Powers" is sure to blow minds with it's playful nature and rock steady beats; a dance floor classic in the making. Finally, Jon Gill rounds out this diverse EP with "Truth Be Told"; a slice of classic sounding deep soul house that features saxophonist Eliot Levin. All in all, five new tracks that circumference the sounds of breaks, trip hop and house; something for the whole family. The limited run vinyl will be made available to the public in late August of 2003 and should hit stores worldwide by September. Plans for a release party are in the works and are slated for early September. If you made it to the last one for "Volume One" you know not to miss the next. Live performances, crazy visuals, great food and drink and banging beats of the soulful variety make up any good FPWL release party. Don't sleep! |
